Kongs are primarily designed as a training and behavioural aid and unfortunately some dogs are extremely strong and tenacious chewers and will rip, bite and gnaw instead of chewing properly. No dog toy is indestructible and will not stand up to this kind of chewing even Kong! We recommend that dogs are always supervised when playing with any toy, and removed immediately if it shows signs of ripping or tearing. There are several factors to remember when buying any Kong product. Proper toy sizing - is important to ensure the dog's safety and minimize damage to the toy. Typically, toys should always be larger than the size of a dog's mouth. Any of the breeds with powerful jaws we recommend going up to a bigger size, if not the biggest in the range. Terrier breeds tend to make short work of their toys due to their natural instinct to destroy. Squeaker toys are likely to lose their squeak in a short space of time, again, that is the nature of the breed. Chewing temperament - Know your dogs chewing temperament and if they are tenacious chewers do not leave them with any toy that they could cause damage to and swallow.
